ORIGINAL & CERTIFIED DAKSINAVARTI SANKHA / SHANKHA (CONCH)

• Dakshinavarti is one of the auspicious and cherished pooja item used by the Hindus for the worship of the Hindu deities.
• Dakshinavarti Shankha (Conch) or Dayavarti Sankha (Conch) is actually a sea shell ,which opens on the right side (Dahina) WITH NO HOLE FOR BLOWING unlike the regular normal shankha ,which opens on the left (Baya) side and has a hole for blowing .
• Dakshinavarti Shankha is termed as Lakshmi Shankha.Dakshinavarti Sankha symbolizes Maa Laxmi ,the Hindu Goddess of wealth. The idols of Maa Laxmi always carry Dakshinavarti Sankha in one of her hands.
• Dakshinavarti Shankha can be kept at Mandir or in cash box , facing the pointing end towards God and in its Open position as shownin the last picture above. It should never be empty so either a red flower or some rice or a coin should be kept inside. Water can be poured in , which should be discharged after pooja under a plant or sprinkled in the home or office place for positivity and good aura. Though the practice to keep water inside continuously 24hrs will create a hole in to it in long term , which cannot be repaired and will destroy the piece.
• Dakshinavarti Shankha is kept in house for the blessing of Maa Lakshmi. It is NOT used for any blowing purpose. It can also be used for doing Abhishek to God.
• Dakshinavarti Shankha is a natural sea shell and it’s a outer cowering, which has an insect living inside , once that creature comes out , it is cleaned and polished to be used as shankha.
• As the natural piece are scarce and has great demand as per Hindu mythology so it’s a valuable thing and its price vary as per the size of the shankha (conch).
• Many people replicate the same and create such with human intervention by using potein (Clay). The best way to define its originality is the skin , which has enormous features and lines on it , which are unique. It shape , size and formation will always vary from piece to piece. You can observe the natural skin formation in the above pictures. Near the round base it will have irregular formation and will seems its’ damaged but it’s the most important identity of a natural shell.

• Dakshinavarti Sankha is available in white colors and many of them have spectacular brown lines on it. Which is rare and considered more auspicious.

Note : There is one more species of Dakshnivarti Shankha , which has three natural line encircled inside , which is Vishnu Shankha (Valampuri Shankha). It’s the rarest species and very very costly and not less than few lakhs. People replicate such shankha by carving three lines on a normal shankha but that could be verified by X Ray Test , as the encircled lines are throughout the body , which cannot be approached by hand craft.This shankha could not be availed even against order for years.

2. MOTI SHANKHA / PEARL SHANKH IS FOR RS 2500/-

Moti Shankha is a natural shell found very rarely and is considered as Lakshmi Swarup. It is not used for blowing but to keep in a mandir or cash box for good luck.
